Football Idols

Every football fan has an idol in football, or maybe idols.. I grew up watching the great Roberto Baggio and the ever magnificent Ryan Giggs. But as for idol, it has to be Ryan Joseph Giggs, the Man Utd legend. Not a bad idol eyh? Hehe..

I remember having his posters on my cupboard and I even bought his video tape, Ryan Giggs Soccer Skills featuring Sir Bobby Charlton. Basically, thats how i learnt to play football, from doing a simple pass to taking a free-kick. As it turns out, we will end up playing in a position just like our idol. Winger for me, and striker for my brother, who idolizes Robbie Fowler.

And now, my wish is to watch Ryan Giggs play in the Theater of Dreams, which I hope will come true when i visit Manchester next week. Wohoo!!!

Mourinho, Grant, Scolari… Keep adding more names to this list please. When will Chelsea learn that money cant buy instant success. Next up, Hiddink. Yes, he is a good manager. He has an excellent record with PSV, Korea and Australia. But will he have the time to do wonders with Chelsea?
Managers need time in order to give a steady performance.. For instance, take Sir Alex Ferguson. Did he qualify for the Champions League final in his first season in charge? No, and unlike Avram Grant, he was fighting with relegation. He took his time to build one of the greatest team in Manchester United’s history. And he did it with the help of his boardroom staffs who believed in his ability. Fast forward today, his team has won 10 league titles.
A person may wonder whether Chelsea is trying to be the new Real Madrid... I don’t mean buying star players, but sacking a good manager every season... Like I said, you cant buy instant success..Please give the team and the manager time to make things work, and give the young players a chance like Sir Alex did with his team..

Kick Off

Prriiiitttt!!! Football football.. Some view it as the greatest game ever created, some only see 22 grown men running around kicking a ball around the pitch. What makes this game so special? Is it the goals that take your breath away? Is it those beautiful long range shots? Or even the spectacular saves made by the goalkeeper in the dying seconds of the game? So many reasons... So many answers.. But whatever the reason is, to me, if people around the globe is watching and playing it, then it must be a great game, if not the greatest. Great players come and go, but the game remains.. Some play for money, some play for passion, and some even played because they are forced to play this game..

This blog is dedicated to the football fanatics out there.. Have fun reading the articles, but remember, this is only one man’s point of view..
